Eric: Welcome to 3-Minute Thai Season 1, Lesson 11 - How to Read Prices.
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to read prices in Thai.
Body
Eric: Here's the way to say "It's one baht." in Thai.
Jay: [Normal] อันนี้หนึ่งบาท(an-níi nùeng bàat)
Eric: First is a pronoun meaning "this"
Jay: [Normal] อันนี้ [Slow] อันนี้ (an-níi)
Eric: Next is the number "one" in Thai.
Jay: [Normal] หนึ่ง [Slow] หนึ่ง(nùeng)
Eric: Last is the Thai currency unit "Baht"
Jay: [Normal] บาท [Slow] บาท(bàat)

Eric: Now it's time for a quick cultural insight.
Jay: Do you know the number for one hundred in Thai? It’s “Nùeng-ráawy" The first part is Nùeng, "one". The second part is “Ráawy” which means “hundred”, so that you get one hundred. Just by replacing the number before Ráawy, you can make two hundred and three hundred easily.
