Hello, everyone! Welcome to Top Words with me, Jay. Today we are going to do The 10 Lines You Need For Introducing Yourself. Ok, let's begin!
1. เธ‰เธฑเธ™เธกเธฒเธˆเธฒเธเธ›เธฃเธฐเน€เธ—เธจเน„เธ—เธข (chวŽn maa jร ak bprร -thรชet thai) "I'm from Thailand."
Iโ€™m Jay, and Iโ€™m from Thailand, specifically from Bangkok.
You can use this sentence to introduce yourself.
2. เธ‰เธฑเธ™เธชเธ™เธธเธเธเธฑเธšเธเธฒเธฃเธŸเธฑเธ‡เน€เธžเธฅเธ‡ (chวŽn sร -nรนk gร p gaan fang phleeng) "I enjoy listening to music."
What kind of genre do you like?
For me I like pop and acoustic. I know not many people love acoustic, itโ€™s very niche, but I love it. In Thailand we have all types of genre, like, thereโ€™re a lot of artists in Thailand. My favorite is called Stamp. Yes, itโ€™s a stamp on a letter, but thatโ€™s the name of the artist, and heโ€™s very good, you should check it out.
3. เธ‰เธฑเธ™เธญเธฒเธขเธธ 26 เธ›เธต (chวŽn aa-yรบ yรฎi-sรฌp-hรฒk bpii) "I'm 26 years old."
So เธ‰เธฑเธ™เธญเธฒเธขเธธ (chวŽn aa-yรบ) is โ€œI amโ€, and then you put your age in between, and then you end with เธ›เธต (bpii), which is โ€œyears oldโ€.
So เธ‰เธฑเธ™เธญเธฒเธขเธธ 26 เธ›เธต (chวŽn aa-yรบ yรฎi-sรฌp-hรฒk bpii) "I'm 26 years old."
In Thailand, girls prefer not to tell their age, I mean if they are young, itโ€™s fine, but if they are a bit older then they donโ€™t feel comfortable to say that.
4. เธ‰เธฑเธ™เธญเธฒเธจเธฑเธขเธญเธขเธนเนˆเนƒเธ™เธเธฃเธธเธ‡เน€เธ—เธžเธฏ (chวŽn aa-sวŽi yรนu nai grung-thรชep) "I live in Bangkok."
Luckily, my place in Bangkok is in the metropolis area, so itโ€™s around the train station, so itโ€™s very convenient for me to travel around, but as you know Bangkok is very huge, so if you live somewhere further away, then thereโ€™s a problem for traveling around Bangkok. And I used to have that problem before, because when I was younger I lived quite far away from the heart of Bangkok.
5. เธ‰เธฑเธ™เน€เธ›เน‡เธ™เธ„เธฃเธน (chวŽn bpen khruu) "I'm a teacher."
เธ‰เธฑเธ™เน€เธ›เน‡เธ™ (chวŽn bpen) is โ€œI amโ€, and then followed by your occupation, for example, โ€œI am still a studentโ€, I would say เธ‰เธฑเธ™เน€เธ›เน‡เธ™เธ™เธฑเธเน€เธฃเธตเธขเธ™ (chวŽn bpen nรกk-riian) โ€œIโ€™m a student.โ€
6. เธ‰เธฑเธ™เน„เธ”เน‰เน€เธฃเธตเธขเธ™เธ เธฒเธฉเธฒเน„เธ—เธขเธกเธฒ 1 เธ›เธต (chวŽn dรขai riian phaa-sวŽa thai maa nรนeng bpii) "I've been learning Thai for a year."
เธ‰เธฑเธ™เน„เธ”เน‰เน€เธฃเธตเธขเธ™เธ เธฒเธฉเธฒเน„เธ—เธขเธกเธฒ... (chวŽn dรขai riian phaa-sวŽa thai maaโ€ฆ) โ€œIโ€™ve been learning Thai forโ€ฆโ€
And then if you have been learning Thai for 2 years, 3 years, then you just put that at the end.
7. เธŠเธทเนˆเธญเธ‚เธญเธ‡เธ‰เธฑเธ™เธ„เธทเธญเน€เธˆ (chรปue khวŽawng chวŽn khuue Jee) "My name is Jay."
This one is pretty easy, huh?
Jay is actually my nickname, and half of my real name and my surname, but Thai people usually call each other by their nicknames.
I mean, if you have a Thai friend you would understand this, because Thai names, common Thai names are very long, so itโ€™s very difficult to remember, thatโ€™s why we have nicknames.
8. เธซเธ™เธถเนˆเธ‡เนƒเธ™เธ‡เธฒเธ™เธญเธ”เธดเน€เธฃเธเธ‚เธญเธ‡เธ‰เธฑเธ™เธ„เธทเธญเธเธฒเธฃเธญเนˆเธฒเธ™ (nรนeng nai ngaan-ร -dรฌ-rรจek khวŽawng chวŽn khuue gaan-ร an) "One of my hobbies is reading."
I love drawing, I have it on blogs, and I love writing, so thatโ€™s my hobby. So what is yours?
9. เธ‰เธฑเธ™เน€เธฃเธตเธขเธ™เธ เธฒเธฉเธฒเน„เธ—เธขเธˆเธฒเธ Thaipod101.com (chวŽn riian phaa-sวŽa thai jร ak Thaipod101.com) "I'm learning Thai at Thaipod101.com"
I study other languages, for example, Japanese and English, this is a very useful website.
10. เธ‰เธฑเธ™เน‚เธชเธ” (chวŽn sรฒot) "I'm single."
This one is quite funny but if youโ€™re close to the person then you can use it.
And that is the end of todayโ€™s Thai words, if you have any question please let us know, and donโ€™t forget to subscribe our channel. See you next time, bye-bye!
