ไม่ ผมไม่ใช่นักเรียน ผมเป็นนักลงทุน (mâi phǒm-mâi-châi-nák-riian phǒm-bpen-nák-long-thun)

ไม่ ดิฉันไม่ใช่ครู ดิฉันเป็นนักเรียน (mâi dì-chǎn-mâi-châi-khruu dì-chǎn-bpen-nák-riian)

ไม่ ผมไม่ใช่ครู ผมเป็นวิศวกร (mâi phǒm-mâi-châi-khruu phǒm-bpen-wít-sà-wá-gaawn)

ไม่ ดิฉันไม่ใช่พยาบาล ดิฉันเป็นหมอ (mâi dì-chǎn-mâi-châi-phá-yaa-baan dì-chǎn-bpen-mǎaw)

Did you notice how the last speaker omits part of the response?

ไม่ ดิฉันเป็นนักชงกาแฟ (mâi dì-chǎn-bpen-nák-chong-gaa-faae)

"No, I'm a barista."

First is ไม่ (mâi), "no." ไม่

Next is ดิฉัน (dì-chǎn), "I," when the speaker is a female. ดิฉัน

Note: A male speaker would use ผม (phǒm).

After this is เป็น (bpen). Here, it’s like the "am" in "I am." เป็น

Last is นักชงกาแฟ (nák-chong-gaa-faae), "barista." นักชงกาแฟ

All together it's ไม่ ดิฉันเป็นนักชงกาแฟ (mâi dì-chǎn-bpen-nák-chong-gaa-faae) "No, I'm a barista."

This pattern is for a female speaker

ไม่ ดิฉันเป็น (mâi dì-chǎn-bpen) ACTUAL OCCUPATION

"No, I'm ACTUAL OCCUPATION."

For a male speaker, the pattern is

ไม่ ผมเป็น (mâi phǒm-bpen) ACTUAL OCCUPATION
