| Somchai Saengla, a passenger sitting next to him, asks, |
| "Where are you from?" |
| คุณมาจากที่ไหนครับ (khun-maa-jàak-thîi-nǎi-khráp) |
| Listen to the conversation, and focus on Kunakorn's response. |

| Let's take a closer look at the conversation. |
| Do you remember how Somchai Saengla asks, |
| "Where are you from?" |
| คุณมาจากที่ไหนครับ (khun-maa-jàak-thîi-nǎi-khráp) |
| First is คุณ (khun), "you," when addressing someone politely. คุณ. คุณ |
| Next is มา (maa), "come." มา. มา |
| After this is จาก (jàak), "from." จาก. จาก |
| Next is ที่ไหน (thîi-nǎi), "where." ที่ไหน. ที่ไหน |
| Last is ครับ (khráp), the polite ending particle for a male speaker. ครับ. ครับ |
| Note: a female speaker would use ค่ะ (khâ). ค่ะ. ค่ะ |
| All together, คุณมาจากที่ไหนครับ (khun-maa-jàak-thîi-nǎi-khráp), literally "you come from where?" but translates as "Where are you from?" |
