| First is คุณ (khun), "you," when addressing someone politely. คุณ. คุณ |
| Next is มา (maa), "come." มา. มา |
| After this is จาก (jàak), "from." จาก. จาก |
| Next is ที่ไหน (thîi-nǎi), "where." ที่ไหน. ที่ไหน |
| Last is ครับ (khráp), the polite ending particle for a male speaker. ครับ. ครับ |
| Note: a female speaker would use ค่ะ (khâ). ค่ะ. ค่ะ |
| All together, คุณมาจากที่ไหนครับ (khun-maa-jàak-thîi-nǎi-khráp), literally, "You come from where?" but translates as "Where are you from?" |

| After this is จาก (jàak), "from." จาก |
| Next is the city ปาย (bpaai), "Pai," a small town in Northern Thailand. ปาย. ปาย |
| Last is ครับ (khráp), the polite ending particle for a male speaker. ครับ |
| All together, ผมมาจากปายครับ (phǒm-maa-jàak-bpaai-khráp), "I come from Pai." |

| The pattern for female speaker is |
| ดิฉันมาจาก (dì-chǎn-maa-jàak) LOCATION ค่ะ (khâ) |
| "I come from LOCATION." |
| ดิฉันมาจาก (dì-chǎn-maa-jàak) LOCATION ค่ะ (khâ) |
| To use this pattern, you can simply replace the LOCATION placeholder with the name of your hometown. |
| Note: This pattern requires a noun, and works with the names of cities, villages, towns, or countries. |
