| In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to ask and answer the question, "How do you say this?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to ask someone how a word is pronounced. |
| Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases! |
| Listen to the dialogue. |
| คุณเรียกสิ่งนี้ว่าอย่างไร (khun rîiak sìng níi wâa yàang rai) |
| เรียกว่า "ลานจอดรถ" (rîiak wâa "laan jàawt rót") |
| Once more with the English translation. |
| คุณเรียกสิ่งนี้ว่าอย่างไร (khun rîiak sìng níi wâa yàang rai) |
| “How do you say this?” |
| เรียกว่า "ลานจอดรถ" (rîiak wâa "laan jàawt rót") |
| "It's 'parking lot.'” |
| First of all you'll need to learn how to say “How do you say this?” |
| That's: |
| คุณเรียกสิ่งนี้ว่าอย่างไร (khun rîiak sìng níi wâa yàang rai) |
| Listen to it again: |
| คุณเรียกสิ่งนี้ว่าอย่างไร, คุณเรียกสิ่งนี้ว่าอย่างไร (khun rîiak sìng níi wâa yàang rai, khun rîiak sìng níi wâa yàang rai) |
| This Thai sentence means something like " How do you call this? ” But it means “How do you say this?” |
| Now, how do you answer this question? |
| The pattern is: |
| เรียกว่า [ ] (rîiak wâa [ ]) |
| This Thai sentence literally translates into " It's called [word]. |
| For example: |
| "It's 'parking lot.'” |
| เรียกว่า "ลานจอดรถ", เรียกว่า "ลานจอดรถ" (rîiak wâa "laan jàawt rót", rîiak wâa "laan jàawt rót") |
