Hello Jim,
Thank you very much. The translation "ข้าวซอยที่มีชื่อเสียงอยู่ที่จังหวัดเชียงใหม่" is already accurate. มัสมั่น - mát-sà-màn and แกงมัสมั่น are same. Our translation is good according to English grammar and for Thai, learner may need to remember an accurate way of saying but you have a good idea I will suggested. Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions in the future. I will be glad to help.
Have a good day.

มัสมั่น - mát-sà-màn
แกงมัสมั่น - southern Thai style curry with cinnamon; cardomans; peanuts
chaao-dtàang-châat
Foreigners = people different country
châawp thaan phàt-thai
châawp - like
thaan - eat
phàt-thai - Pad Thai
ผัด - phàt - stir fry
I think better translation: Foreigners like eating Pad Thai.
(I realize thaan isn't a gerund - verbal noun - but that is the sense in this sentence.)
ข้าวซอยที่มีชื่อเสียงอยู่ที่จังหวัดเชียงใหม่
The transliteration doesn't match the Thai.
Why don't you have someone fix this? It is frustrating for us to have such errors.
Thanks for your attention to this. Jim
Hi Dan,
Thank you very much for your comment. We appreciated it very much. For your question,
ข้าวซอยทีมีชือเสียงอยู่ทีจังหวัดเชียงใหม่
khâo-soi thîi (à-ràwy thîi sùt means "the most delicious" = "wrong" we don't have this in the Thai script above) yùu thîi jang-wàt chiiang-mài
"The famous northern style Thai noodles
are in Chiang Mai."
ข้าวซอย khâo-soi = northern style Thai noodles
ที thîi = that (that/at)
มีชือเสียง mii chûue sǐang = fanous
อยู่ yùu = to be located
ที่ thîi = at (that/at)
จังหวัด jang-wàt = province
เชียงใหม่ chiiang-mài = Chiang Mai
ใน nai = in (but in not contain in the sentence, we use at which is ที่ thîi instean).
Now you are a beginner will need to study more about Thai grammar. Please let us know if you have any questions in the future.
Have a good day.

Hello,
I just signed up for thaipod101 basic for a year. I started with Culture Class Essential Thai: Food.
My question is...I see for basic you can only download PDF: lesson notes. It is helpful for learning basic vocabulary, like how to say "northern style " in thai. BUT, when you give the sample sentences I am lost.
ข้าวซอยทีมีชือเสยีงอยทู่ีจังหวดัเชียงใหม่
khâo-soi thîi à-ràwy thîi sùt yùu thîi jang-wàt chiiang-mài
"The famous northern style Thai noodles are in Chiang Mai."
This is a full sentence. I don't understand which is the word for "famous", "are" "in" etc.. Basically I can only pick up Khao-soi because that is the only one on the PDF shown for vocab.
My question is how am I suppossed to understand the rest, or is the purpose to just introduce the 5 vocabulary words? If I upgrade to Premium, does it explain the whole sentence, the vocab, grammer, etc word-by-word?
Thank You,
Dan
