Thank you very much for your comment. For your question,I would say, yes this is an unusual case where the “ตำ” is giving it’s middle class initial consonant tone properties to the “ร”.

Hi, please could you explain why the "รวจ" in "สถานีตำรวจ" is low tone? As I understand it the syllable is a low class initial consonant with a long vowel and a dead ending so should be falling tone. Also (as I understand it), a syllable with a low class initial consonant cannot make a low tone without another middle or high class consonant immediately before it to give its tone properties to the low class initial consonant (e.g. ห). Is it a low tone because the "ตำ" is giving it's middle class initial consonant tone properties to the "ร"?
