Do you know how to write the short 'ae,' or สระ แอะ (sà-rà àe) in Thai when there is a final consonant? Get your pen and paper ready!
แ–็–, แ–– (ae)
If there is a final consonant, in front of an initial consonant, write two clockwise heads with an ascending vertical line like drawing สระ แอ. In some cases, above the initial consonant, draw a clockwise circle, add a half-circle to the left, then a second bump, lead the line up curving right, and conclude with an upper right tail.
Now, let's practice.
Write สระ แอะ (sà-rà àe) for each of these words.
แข็ง (khǎeng) hard
แท็กซี่ (tháek-sîi) taxi
แบ่ง (bàeng) to divide
