Hi, everybody! This is Jay from ThaiPod101.com. |
Do you know how to say “thank you” in Thai? In this lesson, you'll learn three different ways to say "thank you" and how to respond. |
Let’s start with the easiest one. |
ขอบคุณ. |
[slowly] ขอบคุณ. |
It means “thank you.” |
In formal situations, you need to add an extra word at the end. If you're a female speaker, you need to add ค่ะ |
ขอบคุณค่ะ |
[slowly] ขอบคุณค่ะ |
It means "Thank you" in a formal way. The word ค่ะ makes the expression polite, but only a female speaker can use it. |
It expresses a deeper appreciation for a personal kindness. |
If you're a male speaker, you need to add ครับ instead. |
ขอบคุณครับ |
[slowly] ขอบคุณครับ |
When you want to thank someone in a formal situation as a male speaker, use this expression. |
Now you know 3 different ways to say "thank you" in Thai! But how do you respond if someone thanks you? |
If someone says "thank you" in Thai, simply say ไม่เป็นไร for casual situations. It means "that's okay." If you're a male speaker, say ไม่เป็นไรครับ or if you're a female speaker, say ไม่เป็นไรค่ะ |
Let's wrap up this lesson by recapping what we've learned. Listen to the expressions and repeat after me. |
“Thank you." |
ขอบคุณ.. |

And to respond, just say: |
ไม่เป็นไร |

Well done! [pause] |
Make sure to smile when you thank someone, as all Thais do. |

Hello Paso,
Thank you. Like I said in your previous comment. No, it is pronouce kh+àaw+p not "aa" it "aaw" which your mouth will still rounded wider than when you say "oo" 👍 Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help.
Have a good day.

Hey. I've been studying Thai for a while now but it's still very confusing to me sometimes that is the word khàawp pronounced as "aa" like for example when a doctor asks you to open your mouth and say "ahh" or is it "oo" like when saying ball in the British way.
Hello Helen,
Thank you very much. We're glad to hear that. Please feel free to let me know if you have questions. I will be glad to helps.
Have a nice day.
