Lesson Transcript

Hello and welcome back to Thai weekly words. My name is Prathana and today we will be learning clothing actions. [gìt-jà-gam gìiao-gàp sûuea-phâa]
[dtàt gan]] or to clash
[khăo châawp sŭuam sûuea gàp gaang-geeng sǐi dtàt gan] He likes to wear a shirt and trousers that clashes in color.
The next word is [thàawt] or to take off.
Sample sentence is [gàawn khâo bâan dtâwng thàawt raawng-tháao] you have to take off your shoes before you entered a house and that’s a Thai culture. Be sure to take off your shoes before you enter someone’s house.
The next word is [thàk] or to knit.
[mâae thàk phâa-phan-khaaw hâi chăn nai rúe-duu năao] My mother knit me a scarf in the winter. Well actually winters in Thailand is not that cold that you actually need a knitted scarf but well, somebody wears it just for fashion.
The next word is [laawng sŭuam] or to try on.
[wee-laa súue sûuea khuan laawng sŭuam duu gàawn] Before you buy a shirt, you should try it on first.
The next word is [yép] to sow. When I was in primary school, they actually taught us to sow but then I guess, people now-a-days don’t sow anymore.
So [khon sà-măi níi yép phâa mâi khâuy bpen láaeo] people now-a-days don’t really know how to sow
and that’s the end for today’s Thai weekly words. If you have any questions or any comments, please be sure to let us know and we will see you in the next Thai weekly words. Thank you for listening, bye.
