| B: When I was a child, there was nothing. I just started when I was eighteen years old, when I got the first amulet of my life from my father. After that, I started to collect them all the time. Most of the ones I collect are small Buddha amulets. |

| B: Ha ha. You don't understand. People don't use the word "buy" with amulets or any type of sacred object. In the old days, they were given out for free. It was a matter of the people's faith. People use the word "rent." |

| Ja: This is a noun that means “sacred object”. It can refer to anything considered to be holy or anything that is thought to contain a higher power. |
| Jing: ใช่ค่ะ ในประเทศไทยมีหลายอย่างที่เราเรียกว่า “สิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์” นะคะ |

| Ja: In this lesson, you’ll learn about using “ปลอม bplaawm” to talk about something "fake". |
| Jing: “ปลอม bplaawm” is an adjective that means “fake” or “artificial”. |
| Ja: And in Thai, we put adjectives after the nouns that they describe. |
| Jing: ใช่ค่ะ ตัวอย่างเช่น “นาฬิกา” หมายความว่า “watch” ดังนั้น “นาฬิกาปลอม” ก็คือ “fake watch”. |
| Ja: I see. So that would be like an imitated Rolex that someone is selling on the street. |
