| Jing: “เชื่อ chûuea” is the verb "to believe", and “ตามๆกัน dtaam-dtaam gan” means "following each other". |
| Ja: Then we have “โดย dooi” as a conjunction that means "by way of", and “ไร้เหตุผล rái-hèet-phǒn” as an adjective that means "without logic" or "groundless". So the whole phrase gives us something like "follow each other in believing illogically." |

I think each country has its own good and bad numbers. Chinese people, for example, don't like the number 4 because in Chinese it sounds like "dead." The unlucky number in the Thai culture is number 13. Do you know why? Tilt your head to the left and read the number again. Do you see a "ghost"? The number 13 when read that way look similar to the word phǐi which means "ghost." That's why hospitals and some hotels don't have Floor 13. Have you noticed the missing 13th floor on any elevator control panel?

Thank you. In Thai, both "หมายเลข" and "ตัวเลข" refer to numbers or numerals, but they can be used slightly differently. "หมายเลข" tends to be used in more formal or specific contexts where numbers are identified or designated, whereas "ตัวเลข" is used more generally to refer to digits or numerals in everyday language. Examples: หมายเลขบัตรประชาชน (mǎai-lêek bàt prá-châat-chon) - Citizen identification number. หมายเลขทะเบียนรถ (mǎai-lêek thá-biiang rót) - Vehicle registration number. ตัวเลข 0-9 (dtuua-lêek 0-9) - Digits 0-9. ตัวเลขที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล (dtuua-lêek thîi chái nai gaan wí-krao khâo-mân) - Numbers used in data analysis. Hi - i'm interested in the use of จน in จนลืมไปว่า and จนเกินไป. If I was trying to translate those phrases i would never think to use จน (until) as a prefix. Can you tell me why it's important? Thanks!
