Hello,
I just started learning Thai through the platform ThaiPod101, and I love it already. I stick to the suggested pathway, and after Lesson 3 included the pathway for learning, reading and writing the Thai alphabet. I never would have imagined that it would be so easy to learn another language that also uses a completely different set of letters. I have the additional difficulty of learning a third language via the second language, because my mothers tongue is actually German. But I feel like I’m doing just fine. The lesson dialogues are easy to follow so far. |

I recently visited Chiang Mai Thailand with my daughter. We traveled alone… not with a tour group. And we stayed in a small guesthouse… not a fancy hotel where the employees spoke fluent English. We arranged day trips for ourselves… private cooking lessons, hiking, biking, kayaking down the Ping river. And we wandered the city on our own, ordering food from street vendors, wandering through the markets, and catching our own transportation. It was a fantastic trip, and we came away wanting to visit again.
One of the highlights of our trip was our ability to talk to the local people to some degree in their own language… thanks to some serious studying on ThaiPod101 in the year before the trip. No, we were not fluent. But we learned enough to get around, greet and thank people that we met, order food, and ask simple questions. The people there were so appreciative that we had made the effort to learn their language, rather than assuming that they would know ours. We were welcomed warmly into their community, largely because of our attempts to bridge that language barrier. I suggest that some time spent on ThaiPod101 learning the basics of the language (and the alphabet) is a valuable exercise before traveling to Thailand. Thank you ThaiPod101 for making a wonderful trip even better for us. |

I want to tell you, “Thank you so much. ” Before I started to learn Thai, I think Thai language will be difficult for me to learn. But it is not actually difficult to learn because Thaipod101 made me changed my mind. After I learned the Thai alphabet from you, I am so happy and satisfied with what I learnt. Thai is such an amazing language and makes you want to learn more every day. The learning program is well structured and explicit. From my perspective as an absolute beginner, Thai language is like a knowledge-filled mystery box. Learning Thai is a new experience and I’m very happy that I started it.
