how to tell the vowel sound in มด

Postby Merritolson_19062 » September 19th, 2016 4:53 pm

When words don't have a vowel, like นก, how do I know the sound?
This sounds like Noke, but where does a long o sound come from?

Tx

Hello,

Thank you very much for your comment. In the word นก , there is vowel ะ hidden between them. In order to know that you have to read about how Thai word are make a cluster and when we pronounce word as it had a hidden vowel. But not all of them are follow the rule, sometime you just have to check the spelling on the dictionary and remember how they pronounce.

Hope you have a good progress in learning Thai.

Have a nice day.
