Does this sentence change based on context?

Postby connda_19176 » May 6th, 2017 7:13 am

From my Flashcard for ช้า

ทำไมคุณมาช้าจัง
English translation on the Flashcard: "Why did you arrive so late?"

My Thai breakdown: Why you come slow excessively?
Which I can interpret as: "Why are you coming so slow?" Like if my wife is dragging her feet as we are walking through the Mall and I want her to hurry up.

Wouldn't "Why did you arrive so late?' really be something like ทำไมคุณมาถึงสายจังเลย

Maybe I'm missing something in the context.

Hello Conda,

Thank you very much for your comment and question, I think both sentences you wrote are correct. You can speak either sentences which mean the same thing.
ทำไมคุณมาช้าจัง or ทำไมคุณมาถึงสายจังเลย

You didn't miss anything. Good job.

Thanks for your support as always.

Wishing you a good day.
