Eric: Welcome to 3-Minute Thai Season 1, Lesson 9 - Using Adjectives.
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to use adjectives in simple Thai sentences.
Body
Eric: Here's the way to say "I am American." as a male speaker in Thai.
Jay: [Normal] ผมเป็นคนอเมริกันครับ(phǒm bpen khon-à-mee-rí-gan khráp)
Eric: First is a pronoun meaning “I” as a male speaker.
Jay: [Normal] ผม [Slow] ผม (phǒm)
Eric: Next is the word meaning “to be” or “is.”
Jay: [Normal] เป็น [Slow] เป็น(bpen)
Eric: Next is the word meaning "American"
Jay: [Normal] คนอเมริกัน [Slow] คนอเมริกัน(khon-à-mee-rí-gan)
Eric: Last is the particle added at the end of the sentence or phrase that increases the level of politeness when the speaker is a male.

Cultural Insight
Eric: Now it's time for a quick cultural insight.
Jay: If you want to put emphasis on an adjective in Thai, add the word mâak after the adjective. It means something like “very.” For example, to say “very beautiful” add mâak and say sǔuai mâak. This means "very beautiful.” Or say à-ràwy mâak which means "very delicious."
