| Jay: Hello everyone, I am Jay and today we are going to do top 25 Thai adjectives. So letโs begin! |
| เธเนเธฒเธข (sรกai) Left. |
| Left, this is my left, so I think itโs your right. If you want to turn left, you say เธเธฑเธเธญเธขเธฒเธเนเธฅเธตเนเธขเธงเธเนเธฒเธข (chฤn yร ak lรญiao sรกai). Or letโs turn left, เนเธฅเธตเนเธขเธงเธเนเธฒเธขเธเธฑเธเนเธเธญเธฐ (lรญiao sรกai gan thoe). |
| เธเธงเธฒ (khwฤa) Right. |
| We have left, so we have right. My right hand เธกเธทเธญเธเธงเธฒเธเธญเธเธเธฑเธ (muue khwฤa khaฬawng chฤn). So if you want to turn right, you say เธเธฑเธเธญเธขเธฒเธเนเธฅเธตเนเธขเธงเธเธงเธฒ (chฤn yร ak lรญiao khwฤa). |
| เธเธต (dii) Good. |

| เนเธขเนเธ (yen) Cold. |
| เนเธขเนเธ(yen) means cold, like when you are touching something and itโs cold, you say เนเธขเนเธ(yen) but when you feel cold like oh my gosh, like itโs snowing and I feel cold, you donโt say like เธเธฑเธเธฃเธนเนเธชเธถเธเนเธขเนเธ (chฤn ruฬu-suฬek yen), youโll say เธเธฑเธเธฃเธนเนเธชเธถเธเธซเธเธฒเธง (chฤn ruฬu-suฬek nฤao). Like, you know, too cold, you say เธซเธเธฒเธง (nฤao). |
| เนเธขเนเธ (yen) when you say like oh, todayโs weather is bit like windy, like chill, you can, like, chillax outside like, itโs kind of feeling like good feeling, good weather, you say เนเธขเนเธ(yen) but if itโs too cold, you say เธซเธเธฒเธง(nฤao). So donโt use it wrong. |
| เธชเธงเธข (sลญuai) beautiful. |
| So if you want to tell like your friend like oh you are beautiful, you say เธเธธเธเนเธเนเธเธเธเธชเธงเธข (khun bpen khon sลญuai). |
| เธเนเธฒเนเธเธฅเธตเธขเธ (nรขa-glรฌiat) ugly. |
| you have beautiful, then you have ugly. So ugly is เธเนเธฒเนเธเธฅเธตเธขเธ(nรขa-glรฌiat). |
| You donโt have to use it to people, to a person, but you can use it with things as well, like if I donโt like this shirt, I will say เนเธชเธทเนเธญเธเธฑเธงเธเธตเนเธเนเธฒเนเธเธฅเธตเธขเธ (suฬuea dtuua niฬi nรขa-glรฌiat), this shirt looks ugly. |
| เนเธเนเธ (phรจt) Spicy. |
| Thai food is spicy เธญเธฒเธซเธฒเธฃเนเธเธขเนเธเนเธ (aa-hฤan thai phรจt). |
| If I have to choose, I love Tom Yum Kung even though itโs spicy but it tastes very good. I always tell them like, please donโt make it too spicy. So in Thai, I would tell the owner or the chef เธญเธขเนเธฒเธเธณเนเธซเนเธกเธฑเธเนเธเนเธเธกเธฒเธเนเธเนเนเธซเธกเธเธฐ (yร a tham hรขi man phรจt mรขak dรขai mฤi khรก) please donโt make it too spicy for me. |
| For that sentence, if you want to shorten it, you can say เธเธญเนเธกเนเนเธเนเธเธกเธฒเธ(khaฬaw mรขi phรจt mรขak) เนเธกเน (mรขi) means not. So เธเธญเนเธกเนเนเธเนเธเธกเธฒเธ (khaฬaw mรขi phรจt mรขak) means like less spicy like less spicy. |
| เธญเธฃเนเธญเธข (a-raฬuy) Tasty. |
| Do You think Thai food is tasty? Thai people might ask you เธเธธเธเธเธดเธเธงเนเธฒเธญเธฒเธซเธฒเธฃเนเธเธขเธญเธฃเนเธญเธขเนเธซเธก (khun khรญt wรขa aa-hฤan thai a-raฬuy maฬi), and if you think it is tasty or delicious, you will say เธญเธฃเนเธญเธข (a-raฬuy), just "taste is fine", เธญเธฃเนเธญเธข (a-raฬuy). |
| เธเธนเธ (thuฬuk) cheap. |
| And Thailand is famous for that, cheap stuff everywhere. Is it? |
| This is so cheap, เธญเธฑเธเธเธตเนเธเธนเธเธกเธฒเธ (an-niฬi thuฬuk mรขak). |
| เนเธเธ (phaaeng) expensive. |
| So you say เธญเธฑเธเธเธตเนเนเธเธเนเธ (an-niฬi phaaeng bpai), This is too expensive. |
| เธกเธฒเธ (mรขak) very |
| Add เนเธเธ (phaaeng), เนเธเธเธกเธฒเธ (phaaeng mรขak), very expensive. |
| เธเธนเธเธกเธฒเธ (thuฬuk mรขak) Very cheap. |
| เธชเธงเธขเธกเธฒเธ (sลญuai mรขak) Very beautiful. |
| เธเธตเนเธ (dii-jai) Happy. |

| เนเธชเธตเธขเนเธ (sฤญia-jai) sad. |
| We have the word เนเธ (jai) at the end เนเธ (jai) means heart, like heart. Just remember when you hear the word with this word เนเธ (jai), they refer to some kind of feeling. |
| So letโs get back to the topic, เนเธชเธตเธขเนเธ(sฤญia-jai) means sad. |
| I feel sad เธเธฑเธเนเธชเธตเธขเนเธ (chฤn sฤญia-jai) or เธเธฑเธเธฃเธนเนเธชเธถเธเนเธชเธตเธขเนเธ (chฤn ruฬu-suฬek sฤญia-jai). |
| เนเธซเธเน (yร i) big, huge, large. |
| This room is big, เธซเนเธญเธเธเธตเนเนเธซเธเน (haฬwng niฬi yร i). |
| เนเธฅเนเธ (lรฉk) small. |
| In Thai, itโs quite easy because like even though in English you use different words for different circumstances or situations, in Thai, you really have, like, one or two words to describe one thing. So เนเธฅเนเธ (lรฉk) can mean tiny, small, little. |
| This bottle of water is small, เธเนเธณเธเธงเธเธเธตเนเนเธฅเนเธ (nรกam khรนuat niฬi lรฉk). |
| เนเธซเธกเธทเธญเธ (muฬuean) same. |
| This one is the same as this one. In Thai, you say เธญเธฑเธเธเธตเน (an-niฬi) this is เนเธซเธกเธทเธญเธเธเธฑเธเธญเธฑเธเธเธตเน (muฬuean gร p an-niฬi) this is the same as this one, เธญเธฑเธเนเธซเธกเธทเธญเธเธเธฑเธเธญเธฑเธเธเธตเน (an-niฬi muฬuean gร p an-niฬi). |
| This one is not the same as this one เธญเธฑเธเธเธตเนเนเธกเนเนเธซเธกเธทเธญเธเธเธฑเธเธญเธฑเธเธเธตเน (an-niฬi mรขi muฬuean gร p an-niฬi). |
| เธชเธณเธเธฑเธ (sฤm-khan) Important. |
| Like now today that we are recording this, today is Visakha Bucha เธงเธดเธชเธฒเธเธเธนเธเธฒ (wรญ-sฤa-khร -buu-chaa) Day which is one of the most important religious day in Thailand. Itโs the important day in Buddhism. So if you want to say, today is an important day, we say เธงเธฑเธเธเธตเนเนเธเนเธเธงเธฑเธเธชเธณเธเธฑเธ (wan-niฬi bpen wan sฤm-khan). |
| เนเธฃเนเธง (reo) Fast. |
| For example, like now you are listening to this and you think that I am talking too fast, and itโs hard to understand, like, I am talking too fast and you want me to slow down, you say เธเธธเธเธเธนเธเนเธฃเนเธงเนเธ (khun phuut reo bpai), you talk too fast. |
| เธเนเธฒ(chรกa) Slow. |
| เธเธนเธเธเนเธฒเนเธซเธเนเธญเธขเนเธเนเนเธซเธก (phuฬut chรกa chรกa naฬuy dรขai maฬi), please speak more slowly. So now I am trying to speak more slowly for you. |
| เธชเธฐเธญเธฒเธ (sร -ร at) Clean. |
| เธญเธฑเธเธเธตเนเธชเธฐเธญเธฒเธ(an-niฬi sร -ร at), This is clean. |
| เธซเนเธญเธเธเธตเนเธชเธฐเธญเธฒเธ (hรดng niฬi sร -ร at), This room is clean. |
