Hello everyone. Welcome back to Thai top words. You are with me Jay and today, we will be doing Top 10 Pick-up Lines You Can Use at Your Own Risk.
Okay. Let’s begin.
1. คุณอยากดื่มอะไรมั๊ย (khun yàak dùuem à-rai mái) "Do you feel like drinking anything?"
Okay. Um... if you like the person that asked you, you can just say, ไม่เป็นไรค่ะ (khawp khun khâ) Thank you. But if you don’t like him and you don’t want to accept any drink from him or her, you just say, ไม่เป็นไรค่ะ (mâi bpen rai khâ) "It’s all right".
2. ฉันขอแอดเฟซบุ๊กคุณได้มั๊ย (chăn khǎaw áet féet-búk khun dâi mái) "Can I add you on Facebook?"
Another way is to ask for a LINE ID like in Thailand, Thai people always use LINE as a way to communicate. So Facebook seems to be more, you know, private. You can ask for LINE ID as well. So (chăn khǎaw LINE dâi mái) or ขอไลน์ไอดีของคุณได้มั๊ย (khǎaw laai-ai-dii khǎawng khun dâi mái) "Can I have your LINE ID?"
3. ฉันชอบอยู่กับคุณ (chăn châawp yùu gàp khun) "I like being with you."
This is a very sweet sentence. I like it.
4. ฉันตกหลุมรักคุณตั้งแต่แรกเห็น (chăn dtòk lŭm rák khun dtâng dtàae râaek hĕn) "I fell in love with you at first sight."
Isn’t it a bit cheesy. I mean, people really do say that. I am not sure but I have never heard a Thai person saying this. I mean, it’s a bit too cheesy for me.
5. คุณอยากไปดูหนังกับฉันมั๊ย (khun yàak bpai duu năng gàp chăn mái) "Would you like to watch a movie with me?"
If it’s a guy, you can change the word (chăn) to (pom).
(khun yàak bpai duu năng gàp pom mái) "Would you like to watch a movie with me?"
And in Thailand, a common way to ask a person now for a date is to go to a cinema or to watch a movie.
6. คุณมีรอยยิ้มที่สวยมาก (khun mii raauy yím thîi sŭuai mâak) "You have a very beautiful smile."
คุณมีรอยยิ้มที่สวยมาก (khun mii raauy yím thîi sŭuai mâak) “You have a beautiful smile.”
I think the more natural way to say this sentence is (khun yím sŭuai mâak) "You smile beautifully." I think this is shorter and more natural.
7. คุณมีแฟนหรือยัง (khun mii faaen rǔue yang) "Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?"
The word แฟน (faaen) in Thai means either boyfriend or girlfriend or either guys or girls can use it because it doesn’t indicate the gender whether like the gender of your partner.
8. ฉันเคยเจอคุณมาก่อนไหม (chăn khooei jooe khun maa gàawn măi) "Have I seen you before?"
Okay. This is a bit of an overtrick, I guess.
9. ฉันอยากรู้จักคุณมากกว่านี้ (chăn yàak rúu jàk khun mâak gwàa níi) "I want to get to know you more."
10. คุณมาที่นี่บ่อยไหม (khun maa thîi nîi bàauy măi) "Do you come here often?"
If you don’t want to answer this question, you just like "Not so often" or "I seldom come here."
Okay. We are done for today’s lesson. Now, you know how to pick up a girl or a guy that you like but as the title says, you have to use it at your own risk. So use it wisely. See you next time. Bye-bye!
