Hello everyone, welcome to Thai top words. I am Jay and today, we’d be doing Top 10 Words to Know Before Taking the Airplane. Okay, let’s begin.

1. กระเป๋าถือ (grà-bpăo thǔue) “hand baggage”

ผู้โดยสารสามารถพกกระเป๋าถือได้คนละ 1 ใบเท่านั้น (phûu dooi săan săa-mâat phók grà-bpăo thǔue dâi khon-lá nùeng bai thâo nán) “Each passenger can only carry one hand baggage.”

2. เข็มขัดนิรภัย (khĕm khàt ní-rá-phai) “seat belt”

กรุณาคาดเข็มขัดนิรภัย (gà-rú-naa khâat khĕm khàt ní-rá-phai) “Please fasten your seat belt.”

3. หมายเลขที่นั่ง (măai lêek thîi nâng) “seat number”

กรุณาแจ้งหมายเลขที่นั่งของคุณด้วยค่ะ (gà-rú-naa jâaeng măai lêek thîi nâng khǎawng khun dûuai khâ) “Please inform your seat number.”

4. พนักงานต้อนรับบนเครื่องบิน (phá-nák ngaan dtâawn ráp bon khrûueang bin) “flight attendant” Coffee or tea?

พนักงานต้อนรับบนเครื่องบินนำเครื่องดื่มมาให้ (phá-nák ngaan dtâawn ráp bon khrûueang bin nam khrûueang dùuem maa hâi) “The flight attendant brought me some drink.” Thank you. Okay. This word is a bit long, right? พนักงานต้อนรับบนเครื่องบิน (phá-nák ngaan dtâawn ráp bon khrûueang bin), flight attendant it is a bit formal. We just say, แอร์โฮสเตส (aae-hóot-dtèet), air hostess

I think it’s from the word air hostess which is the old way of saying flight attendant.

5. ทางออกฉุกเฉิน (thaang àawk chùk-chǒoen) “emergency exit”

เครื่องบินลำนี้มีทางออกฉุกเฉิน 4 ทาง (khrûueang bin lam níi mii thaang àawk chùk-chǒoen sǐi thaang) “This plane has four emergency exits.”

6. หมายเลขเที่ยวบิน (măai lêek thîiao bin) “flight number”

ฉันจำหมายเลขเที่ยวบินไม่ได้ (chăn jam măai lêek thîiao bin mâi dâi) “I don't remember my flight number.”

It happens all the time like all the time.

7. ออก (âawk) “take-off”

เครื่องบินออกตรงเวลา (khrûueang bin âawk dtrong wee-laa) “The plane took off on time.”

8. ลงจอด (long jàawt) “land”

เครื่องบินลงจอดอย่างปลอดภัย (khrûueang bin long jàawt yàang bplàawt phai) “The plane landed safely.”

9. ที่นั่งชั้นหนึ่ง (thîi nâng chán nùeng) “first class” I wish I could’ve bought a first class once in my life.

ที่นั่งชั้นหนึ่งสะดวกสบายมาก (thîi nâng chán nùeng sà-dùuak sà-baai mâak) “The first class seats are very comfortable.”

Of course.

10. ที่นั่งชั้นประหยัด (thîi nâng chán bprà-yàt) “economy class”

ที่นั่งชั้นประหยัดเต็มหมดแล้ว (thîi nâng chán bprà-yàt dtem mòt láaeo) “All seats in the economy class are booked.”

If it’s too difficult to remember, sometimes we also say อีโคโนมี่คลาส (ii-khoo-noo-mîi khláat) like, in Thai accent. Also, with first class, we say เฟิร์สคลาส (fóoet khláat) or business class, you say, บิสิเนสคลาส (bí-sì-nèet khláat) which in Thai is ที่นั่งชั้นธุรกิจ (thîi-nâng chán thú-rá-gìt)
