Hello, everyone! Welcome back! I’m Jay and today, we are going to do 10 phrases you always want to hear. Let’s get started!
1. คุณถูกแล้ว (khun thùuk láaeo) “You were right” or “you are right.”
คุณถูกแล้ว (khun thùuk láaeo) meaning “You were right” or “you are right.” You say this phrase when someone do something right or correctly and then you’re going to say, “Oh you have done it right. You have done it correctly.” So you say, คุณถูกแล้ว (khun thùuk láaeo).
2. คุณทำกับข้าวอร่อยมาก (khun tham gáp khâao á-ráauy mâak) “You are an excellent cook!”
If you have been to any restaurant or if you have a girlfriend or a boyfriend who cooked for you and you want to compliment them, make them feel good like we care less whether the food is good and not, you can say this word to them… คุณทำกับข้าวอร่อยมาก (khun tham gáp khâao á-ráauy mâak).
3. ฉันคิดถึงคุณ(chán khít thǔeng khun) “I miss you.”
ฉันคิดถึงคุณ (chán khít thǔeng khun), meaning, “I miss you.” You say that a lot like you can say that to everyone you love. If you want to make the sentence softer, you put the word นะ (ná) at the end. For example, ฉันคิดถึงคุณนะ (chán khít thǔeng khun ná), ฉันคิดถึงคุณนะ (chán khít thǔeng khun ná). Or if you want to make it more polite, you can say, ฉันคิดถึงคุณนะค่ะ (chán khít thǔeng khun ná khâ) or ฉันคิดถึงคุณ นะครับ (chán khít thǔeng khun ná khráp.)
4. ชั้นซื้ออะไรพิเศษมาให้คุณด้วย (chán súue á-rai phi-sèet maa hâi khun dûuai) “I bought you something special.”
So like for a special occasion like Christmas or Valentine’s Day or New Year and you have bought something for your special ones, you can use this phrase… ชั้นซื้ออะไรพิเศษมาให้คุณด้วย (chán súue á-rai phi-sèet maa hâi khun dûuai).
5. ทำได้ดีมาก (tham dâi dii mâak) “You did a great job!”
So this is a way to compliment someone. For example, if you were a teacher and your students have done well in exam, you could say this word, this phrase...ทำได้ดีมาก (tham dâi dii mâak) “You have done well! You did a great job!”
6. ปลายเดือนจะมีโบนัส (bplaai duuean já mii boo-nát) “There will be a bonus at the end of the month.”
This phrase, I like it, but our companies, normally, we don’t give bonus at the end of the month. Normally, we give it out at the end of the year. So rather than saying, “at the end of the month”, you can change it to “at the end of the year”. So in Thai, it would be… ปลายปีจะมีโบนัส (bplaai pii já mii boo-nát). So maybe it does make sense instead in Thailand.
7. พักผ่อนเถอะ วันนี้ชั้นทำความสะอาดเอง (phák-phàawn thòe wan níi chán tham khwaam sà-àat eeng) “Take a break, I’ll do the cleaning today.”
I wish someone say this to me sometimes. I have to be the one cleaning for myself which is okay. If you want to impress, I don’t know, like your parents, your father, mother, the boyfriend, by cleaning a room for them, cleaning a house, you can say this to them... พักผ่อนเถอะ วันนี้ชั้นทำความสะอาดเอง (phák-phàawn thòe wan níi chán tham khwaam sà-àat eeng).
8. มีงบไม่จำกัด (mii ngóp mâi jam-gàt) “The budget is unlimited.”
If you work for a company like if you got assigned to buy something or to come up with some party and your boss may say, okay just do it, like “the budget is unlimited,” มีงบไม่จำกัด (mii ngóp mâi jam-gàt).
9. วันนี้คุณดูดี (wan níi khun duu dii) “You look great today.”
I love this phrase. We love to hear people compliment you, like, how you dress up, right? I mean, like, yeah, you dress well, “you look great today” วันนี้คุณดูดีมาก (wan níi khun duu dii mâak), then it will make us very happy, so, yeah.
10. คุณคือผู้ชนะ (khun khuue phûu chá-ná) “You are the winner!”
คุณคือผู้ชนะ (khun khuue phûu chá-ná) meaning “you’re the winner”. So informally, you say, คุณคือคุณชนะ (khun khuue khun chá-ná). So, either คุณคือผู้ชนะ (khun khuue phûu chá-ná) or คุณคือคุณชนะ (khun khuue khun chá-ná). So, “you are the winner!” Congratulations!
Thank you guys for watching. We are done for today. So, are these phrases something that you want to hear? Anyway, please don’t forget to subscribe to our channel and see you next time! Bye-bye.
