Welcome to ThaiPod101.com’s learn Thai in three minutes. The fastest, easiest, and most fun way to learn Thai. |
สวัสดีค่ะ ดิฉันชื่อรวินท์พรค่ะ (sà-wàt-dii khà dì-chǎn chûue Rawinporn khà) Hello. My name is Rawinporn. |
I’ve just introduced myself in Thai. |
In this lesson, you’re going to learn how to introduce yourself in Thai. It’s super easy and it takes ONLY three minutes! |
First of all, we have… |
สวัสดี (sà-wàt-dii) “hello” สวัสดี (sà-wàt-dii)[1] |
Then, if you are male, add khráp. And if you are female, just add khà at the end of the sentence to increase the politeness level. |
ผมชื่อ...ครับ (phǒm chûue …(your name)…. khráp) |
ดิฉันชื่อ...ค่ะ (dì-chǎn chûue …(your name)…. khà) |
“My name is ….” |
Let’s break down this sentence… |
ผม(phǒm) and ดิฉัน(dì-chǎn) means “I”. |
ผม(phǒm) can be used only by male while |
ดิฉัน(dì-chǎn) can be used only by female |
If you are male, you should say… |
ผมชื่อ...ครับ(phǒm chûue …(your name)…. khráp) |
If you are female… |
ดิฉันชื่อ...ค่ะ(dì-chǎn chûue …(your name)…. khà) |
ชื่อ(chûue) is a verb means “to name”. |
For example, for me… สวัสดีค่ะ ดิฉันชื่อรวินท์พรค่ะ (sà-wàt-dii khà. dì-chǎn chûue {rá-win-phaawn} khà) |
If you are male, for example, this guy ศุภชัย (sù-phá-chai) |
สวัสดีครับ ผมชื่อศุภชัยครับ(sà-wàt-dii khráp. phǒm chûue {sù-phá-chai} khráp) |
Time to practice! Please repeat after me… |
Ladies first… |
สวัสดีค่ะ (sà-wàt-dii khà) |
ดิฉันชื่อ...ค่ะ (dì-chǎn chûue … khà) |
Good job. Now it’s the guys turn… |
สวัสดีครับ(sà-wàt-dii khráp) |
ผมชื่อ...ครับ (phǒm chûue … khráp) |
Good job! |
Now, it’s time for Rawinporn’s hint… ta da…! |
You can shorten this sentence to… |
ผม/ดิฉันชื่อ...ครับ/ค่ะ (phǒm/dì-chǎn chûue …(name)… khráp/khà) |
You can omit the subject phǒm/dì-chǎn in this sentence. And the level of the sentence is still formal enough for business situations. |
For example, สวัสดีค่ะ รวินท์พรค่ะ (sà-wàt-dii khà. {rá-win-phaawn} khà) |
Remember… when meeting Thais for the first time, always use formal language. |
See… how easy to introduce yourself in Thai! In next lesson, we’ll learn more about greeting and how to “WAI”. See you next time |

HideHello good morning my name is Wayne
สวัสดีค่ะ คามิวลี่ and Jarood
Thank you. ขอบคุณค่ะ Jarood, your name would be like จะโรจน์ but จาโรจน์ would be more common and easier to call. There are "oo " so I think it โอ not โอะ. Please let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help.
Have a good day.

สวัสดีครับ
How could I write my name? I'm confused.
To pronounce "Jarood" would be "Yarod", But there is no final sound in D.
I think that a=สระ อะ, o=สระ โอะ.
ขอบคุณครับ
สวัสดีค่ะดิฉันชื่อคามิวลี่ค่ะ

I love this old-style videos. Also, rá-win-phaawn is a very good teacher.
Hi Blythe,
OK,but บล are not cluster so not able to stict together as one syllable. If your second syllable end with "t"stop because it end with "e" would sound like "i" or "ii" / "e" or "ee" in Thai. Your name could be "bai-dtii" ใบตี้ Hope that's help. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions about Thai language. I will be glad to help.
Have a nice day.

Hello again, yes ใบล would work for the start of my name. My name is only one syllable and the 'the' is pronounced as a hard English TH.
I was thinking that my name might end with a T-stop consonant, or even just be written with a silenced T consonant.
Thank you for your reply, it is an uncommon name so it is okay if it cannot be translated accurately. 👍
Hello Blythe,
Thnak you for comment. Is your name pronounce "Blai or Blee + dtee or tee"
Blai-dtee = ใบเต้
Blee-tee = เบเต้
Hope that's help. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions about Thai language. I will be glad to help.
Have a nice day.

😄 Hello, I have an uncommon English name 'Blythe'. I was wondering if my name could possibly be translated into Thai?
I have searched on many 'translate my name' websites, but as it is uncommon I am unable to find a translation anywhere.
