In this video you’ll have a chance to test them out with a quiz.
First you’ll see an image and hear a question.
Next comes a short dialogue.
Listen carefully and see if you can answer correctly.
We’ll show you the answer at the end.
Are you ready?

baaw-rí-sàt khǎawng rao mii phá-nák-ngaan hâa-phan khon.

Your audio says 500 instead of 5000 (I think, if I'm hearing correctly)

Hello David N,

Thank you very much. ใช่แล้ว in Thai just means "exactly" — "I understood that" — "I know". For more detail about "láaeo" you can send it to my teacher message. Hope that help. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will be glad to help.

Have a nice day.

Hi,

For the sentence 'ใช่แล้ว เล่มนี้ล่ะค่ะ ', I understood 'châi ' for yes but am confused on the use of 'láaeo' ?

I hear my Thai friend use 'láaeo' quite often when in conversation with other Thais. Could you explain when to use 'láaeo'?

Thank you

ThaiPod101 is the best resource I've come across, and thank you Parisa for answering everyone on here. Your English is great, and your explanations very clear. However, in agreement with the comments, this lesson is difficult for an absolute beginner. I have already completed a lot of the absolute beginner content, and read the PDF document with this lesson, but there's still a lot of words I couldn't understand, even at 0.5x speed. I had to discuss these with my Thai friends.

The audio doesn't need to be changed, but the PDF document could be updated with brief explanations of all the words in the transcript, please? At the moment, the vocabulary section is inadequate to fully understand the audio file.

Thank you once again, I really do appreciate all you do to help us learn Thai! :)

Hello Henrik,

เหรอ and เเหละ are in-interchangeable because most of the time แหละ is used as a colloquial particle used to emphasize what precedes it. ไม่ is used to form negativity so it's either put in front or after verbs and adjective. I think you ask about ไหม word added at the end of a statement to indicate general a questions. สบายดีไหม หิวข้าวไหม ไปดูหนังกับผมไหม

เหรอ is used when you sure about the answer but just want a confirmation.

Your friend seem sweat so you ask ร้อนเหรอ / if your friend has a rumbling stomach then you ask หิวเหรอ / It's late for school but you still see your Son at home so you ask วันนี้ไม่ไปโรงเรียนเหรอ

Hope that's help. Please let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help. We wish you will have a good progress with Thai.

Have a good day.

Hello,

are the words เหรอ and เเหละ used interchangeably?

As far as I understand, both are used when asking for confirmation, right?

And when is it appropriate to use ไม่ instead at the end of the sentence?

Most of all the other content is very good. However, this is absolutely NOT 'absolute beginner' level listening comprehension material. This is a major failing of the 101 language courses - I found the same issue with the Vietnamese and Cantonese courses.
