Hello Samui,

Thank you for comment. โทรมา is already right for the situation because in this case he talk on behalf of who he will call to. When we used โทรไป would often follow by who or specific organisation you are going to call to.Hope that helps. Please feel free to let me know if you have questions. I will be glad to help.

Have a nice day.

Hello,

In the conversation text, the man says......

โอเคครับ งั้นเดี๋ยวผมขอเช็กตารางก่อนแล้วจะโทรมาอีกทีนะครับ

Is it correct for him to say โทรมา instead of โทรไป ? I thought one uses มา or ไป relative to the speaker in the conversation......so since the speaker is calling out it would seem he should use โทรไป and not โทรมา

Thank you

Hello Jay,

Thank you very much for your comment. For your question, you source of understand right but โทรศัพท์ is a noun, when you say "to call" we usually say "โทรไป", "โทรมา" and "โทรหา". Hope that help. Please let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help.

Have a great day.

Vocabulary list. To state that โทรศัพท์ is a verb is, as I understand it, an incomplete statement. It is never used independently as a verb, will always be used in combination with words like หา, ไป or มา.

Or do I misunderstand something?
