Hello Melvin,

Thank you very much for your comment and question. “I learn Thai language from home” in Thai is ผมเรียนภาษาไทยจากบ้าน "pǒm rian paa-sǎa-tai jàak bâan" "I study Thai by myself" would be more commonly say ผมเรียนภาษาไทยเอง pǒm rian paa-saa-tai eeng". Hope that's help. Please let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help. We wish you have a good progress with your Thai.

Have a nice day.

Thank you Parisa,

When I go to TOP 25 Thai Questions→ Lesson 7: Where did you learn Thai→ Lesson Materials→ Vocabulary→ Expansion→ I find this sentence: “อย่าลืมดูข่าวคืนนี้นะคะ” clearly being translated as “Don’t forget to record tonight’s news.”

Please, explain which exact word, in this particular instance, from this specific sentence has been translated as "record"?

The word บันทึก I can easily find that it means "to record" HOWEVER this word is NOT a part of the sentence “อย่าลืมดูข่าวคืนนี้นะคะ” that has been translated as “Don’t forget to record tonight’s news.” and this is why I am so confused. Please, help explain_______

Thank you!

Hello Ted,

Thank you very much for your comment. I already check with our PDF lesson note. We write it as

อย่าลืมบันทึกข่าวคืนนี้นะคะ

yàa luuem ban-thúek khàao khuuen níi ná khá

"Don't forget to record tonight's news."

บันทึก mean "to record"

But “อย่าลืมดูข่าวคืนนี้นะคะ” mean "Don't forget to watch tonight's news." ดู mean "to watch"

Have a nice day.

"อย่าลืมดูข่าวคืนนี้นะคะ" is being translated as "Don't forget to record tonight's news."

1) which word from the Thai sentence above has been translated to English as "record"?

2) what role does the verb ดู/to watch plays in the above sentence and how exactly it has been translated to English in this case?

Thank you!

Hello Sai,

Thanks again for your comment. For your question, "I learned through online courses" in Thai is "phǒm riian paa-sǎa tai aawn-laai ผมเรียนภาษาไทยออนไลน์". Hope that helps.

Have a nice day.
