Hello Achim,

Thank you for comment. I'm sorry to hear that. In my opinion student would be best benefit to learn both formal and informal, for your example: both are used depend on which one the person you talk to will used. I always encourage student to learn both and they will recognize it when they be with Thai or practice listening on TV., radio or youtube. I'm sorry that we didn't provide such thing sometime. We will improve on it. Please feel free to let me know if you have questions. I will be glad to help.

Have a nice day.

Using the example used here in the comments section (สำรอง vs จอง), I would have loved if it could be noted if a word is (very) formal and, as a consequence, hardly used in everyday conversations. I used some of the words I learnt in the course only to be greeted with some "peculiar looks" from my Thai friends as those words were "inappropriate", i.e. too formal, for the casual conversations we had. But how should I know if it is not mentioned in the vocabulary lists? Maybe this can be improved with future lessons? Would be great!

Hello Edgar,

Thank you very much for your comment and questions. สำรอง and จอง both means "to reserve" but the first one is more formal and rarely use, in everyday conversation we often say "จอง". สำรอง can be use for others meaning such as "secondary, in reserve, substitute, spare". Hope that's help. Please let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help. We wish you have a good progress with Thai.

Have a great day.
