Hi Ben,

Thank you. In the chart underneth video they use "j" for IPA systhem with I'm not sure what is it but I'm sure it will still be "Y" with all of our material lesson through out the website. As it show in the next roll on chart as "SOUNDS LIKE" then they put "Y" on where it show ญ/ย.Please let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help.

Have a good day.

AD's question about y and j is not answered... or was misunderstood.

In the video above, j is used for ย, when in the English language we use y sound for ย instead.

This can be clearly seen at 1m 32s in the video.

Why is j used for ย, instead of y being used?

Hello AD,

Thank you. Romanization : http://thai-notes.com/tools/ipa_typer.shtml And

Thai keyboard : http://thai-notes.com/tools/thai_typer.shtml

"y ย /ญ" and "j จ " in Thai language have different sound. Did you learn Thai alphabet? If so it will help a lot.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help.

Have a good day.

Hello May,

Thank you for comment. I would say "s" sound as in "sad/sand/sound" and not "th". Please let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help.

Have a good day.

To me s sounds like th in 'thought". Nothing like s in sand.
