Hi J Glass!

Thank you for your insightful question! 😊

In general, Thai people do tend to use shorter forms like "เรา" (rao / we) instead of "พวกเรา" (phuuak rao / we) and "เขา" (khao / they) instead of "พวกเขา" (phuuak khao / they) in everyday conversation. This is especially true in casual settings or when speaking with friends and family. Your observation is spot on!

Being in the Bangkok area, you might notice this even more, as the city's fast-paced lifestyle often leads to more concise communication.

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

ขอบคุณครับ/ค่ะ (Khob khun krap/ka / Thank you)

Hi,

I would think in general that people would rather say less words in general conversation, so I want to ask if it is more common for thai people to say rao than say phuuak rao, khao instead of phuuak khao, etc. I am in the Bangkok area if that helps.

Thanks

Hello Storm Wolfsong,

Thank you. Here is the meaning and possible way of used เขา khǎo 1. (3rd person singular or plural pronoun) he; she; him; her; they; them 2. [a (singular or plural) possessive particle] another's; others'; other people's (+ Noun) 3. hill; mountain. Hope that helps. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. I will be glad to help.

This iss regarding the 5th one on this list

เขา khǎo says her but before I started trying to learn here I was using an app that said it was He not Her and that her was Ter on that app though here you write it out as thooe for romanized

Also forgive how this might look I am typing one handed at the moment which isn't easy.

I go by Storm, my given name is not my preffered.

Thaipod almost always uses the feminine version of 'I' and doesn't note that it is just for female use. Why? (I'm a guy)

Hello Miguel,

Thank you. If you translate direct from English to Thai, yes เขา (ผู้หญิง) is her, but in real life conversation, nobody would speak like that. We just used เขา. Hope that's help. Please let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help.

Have a nice day.

Hello!

I would like to ask what do the words in parentheses indicate/mean? An example would be the word "her" and its translation, khǎo (phûu yǐng) or เขา (ผู้หญิง). Does the "phûu yǐng" or "ผู้หญิง" need to be included in sentences?

Hello,

Rick Thai, Thank you very much. I will let our team fix it.

Jayesh A Patel, Yes, pǒm is "I/me" for male while chǎn/chán is "I/me" for female.

Have a great day everyone.

Hello Parisa,

What Tonya means is that, when we press on the audio button, it doesn't match the given word (thooe).

Thooe should be changed to khun, to match what the audio is saying.
